Employment Opportunities

Corrections Officers must meet requirements set forth by the Michigan Sheriffs' Coordinating and Training Council. Montcalm Community College now offers written and physical testing for Corrections Officer candidates.  LCOPAT and EMPCO Testing | Montcalm Community College  

Generally, Deputy Sheriffs must be MCOLES certifiable.  The Sheriff's Office is currently considering well qualified recruit candidates.

Montcalm County serves 20 townships consisting of a combined 720 square miles. The duties of Deputy Sheriff's include patrol, criminal investigation, traffic enforcement, quelling disturbances, and traffic crash investigations. The duties of Correction Officers include maintaining orderly operations of the 205 bed facility. Competitive wages and benefits including health and eye care insurance as well as a defined benefit pension.
