Passport Information
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Montcalm County Circuit Court Clerk's office will no longer be able to process passport applications as of September 15th, 2023. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Passport applications are executed in the Circuit Court Clerks Office, located in the Court Complex at 639 N State Street, Stanton, MI.
Effective January 2007 all U.S. Citizens entering Canada and Mexico via land or sea must have a passport. If traveling by land, U.S. Citizens must have a certified copy of their birth certificate and a photo ID.
Effective January 2008 all U.S. Citizens entering Canada and Mexico must have a passport regardless of whether traveling by air, land or sea.
Never Had a Passport:
If you've never had a passport, you will need:
A certified copy of your Birth Certificate - this must have a State or County raised seal and must include the date it was filed. Naturalized citizens are required to submit their original Certificate of naturalization
Two identical passport photos (2 inches by 2 inches)
Your valid Driver's License or State ID
A Check or Money Order payable to the U.S. Department of State for (see Fees section for amount)
A processing fee of $35 to the Montcalm County Clerk (this can be cash or a check)
Other Information You Are Required to Know
*Your Social Security Number
*Your Father's birthplace and birth date
*Your Mother's maiden name, birthplace and birth date
*Date of most recent marriage - if applicable
*Date when widowed/divorced - if applicable
*Naturalization information - if applicable
Renew by Mail:
*If you have had a passport before and are eligible to renew by mail, you will need:
*Your old passport (if you do not have this anymore, you will have to fill out a DSP-64)
*One passport photo (2 inches by 2 inches)
*A Check or Money Order payable to U.S. Department of State for $130.00
Fees:
Age 16 years and over (Passport is good for ten years):
$130.00 Check or Money Order payable to the U.S. Department of State
$35.00 Check or Cash to Montcalm County Clerk
Age 15 years and under (Passport is good for five years):
$100.00 Check or Money Order payable to U.S. Department of State
$35.00 Check or Cash to Montcalm County Clerk
Children 14 years and older must sign their own applications. If applicant is under 14 years, both of their parents must sign their application.
