  • The individual or contractor who pulled the permit is responsible for scheduling inspections

  • A designated representative may schedule on their behalf with written authorization

πŸ”¨ Footing Inspections

Building Permit

  • Property lines must be clearly visible to establish setback compliance.

  • Before pouring concrete footings or placing pea stone:

    • Verify that all excavation, formwork, and reinforcement meet specifications.

  • Manufactured Home Piers:

    • Holes must be dug and inspected before concrete is placed in them.

  • For pole structures:

    • Concrete must be placed in holes prior to inspection and before setting poles.


⚑ Service Inspection

Electrical Permit

  • When meter base and panel are set and properly grounded


🚧 Underground Inspections

Mechanical Permit

  • Before covering underground ductwork, radiant tubing, or process piping

  • Pressure Test Required: Radiant tubing – 50 psi for 5 minutes

Plumbing Permit

  • After trenches are excavated and piping installed, but before covering

  • Pressure Tests Required:

    • Supply lines – 50 psi for 60 minutes

    • Drain lines – 5 psi for 15 minutes


πŸ—οΈ Foundation (Backfill)

Building Permit

  • Before backfilling

  • Must include:

    • Completed foundation walls

    • Installed reinforcing and anchors (including uplift anchors)

    • Damp proofing and drainage system

    • Frost protection insulation (for shallow slab and heated post structures)


πŸ”§ Rough-In Inspections

Electrical Permit

  • Before insulation and interior finish materials are installed

Mechanical Permit

  • Before insulation and interior finish materials are installed

  • Pressure Tests Required:

    • Radiant tubing – 50 psi for 5 minutes

    • Gas lines – 15 psi for 2+ hours

Plumbing Permit

  • Before insulation and interior finish materials are installed

  • Pressure Tests Required:

    • Supply lines – 50 psi for 60 minutes

    • Drain lines – 5 psi for 15 minutes

  • Shower pan test required

Building Permit

  • Before insulation and interior finish materials are installed

  • All sub-trades (electrical, mechanical, plumbing) must be roughed in and approved.

    • Truss diagrams must be available on-site at the time of inspection.

    • Doors and windows must be installed.

    • Flashing must be installed at all required locations.


🧱 Insulation Inspection

Building Permit

  • Before covering insulation

  • Exception: blown-in attic insulation may be inspected at final


βœ… Final Inspections

Sub-Trades

  • When all work under each sub-trade permit is completed

Building Permit

  • After all sub-trades are finaled and approved

  • Construction is complete

  • Blower Door Test must be completed and submitted before final inspection


🚫 Occupancy Notice

A building or structure may not be used or occupied until a Certificate of Use and Occupancy has been issued by the appropriate enforcing agency.
