2011 Recall Petitions

Recall wording was filed against Michigan State Senator, 33rd District, Judy Emmons by Deanna Porter, Stanton, MI on May 26, 2011. The Montcalm County Election Commission deemed that wording of insufficient clarity on Wednesday, June 8, 2011.

Two additional recall wordings were filed against Michigan State Senator, 33rd District, Judy Emmons by Joan Rasegan, Shepherd, MI on June 9, 2011. A Clarity Hearing was held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 3:15 pm. Both wordings were denied.

On June 15, 2011 Deanna Jo Porter, Stanton, MI, filed an additional recall wording against Senator Judy Emmons. The wording was approved on Friday, July 1, 2011. Petitioner now has 180 days to gather 19,953 valid signatures of registered voters within the 33rd Senate District and file them with the Bureau of Elections in Lansing. At the time of filing, no signature can be more than 90 days old.

On June 21, 2011 Joan Rasegan filed two additional recall wordings against Senator Emmons. Both wordings were approved on Friday, July 1, 2011. Petitioner now has 180 days to gather 19,953 valid signatures of registered voters within the 33rd Senate District and file them with the Bureau of Elections in Lansing. At the time of filing, no signature can be more than 90 days old.

On June 21, 2011 Robert Lewis filed three recall wordings against Phyllis Shilling, Montcalm Township Treasurer. Two of these wordings were approved on Friday, July 1, 2011. The wordings that begin "Shall Treasurer Phyllis Shilling be recalled..." were approved. The third wording was not approved due to the lack of indicating who "she" was in the wording. Petitioner now has 180 days to gather 283 valid signatures of registered voters within Montcalm Township and file them with the Montcalm County Clerk. At the time of filing, no signature can be more than 90 days old.
